MUSU election results

IMPHAL | Jan 10

Election results of the Manipur University Students’ Union, for the year 2016 – 17 has been declared today, according to a release of the returning officer of the said election of the university.

It said, Buchi Mayanglambam, a research scholar of English department has been declared as winner of the presidential post, Haobijam Birbal Singh, Philosophy department as general secretary, Nahakpam Boynao Singh, Life Sciences department as finance secretary, Naorem Naresh Singh of History department as cultural secretary and Romen Soibamcha of PE and Sports Science as sports secretary respectively.

It may be mentioned that the election was held today after it was rescheduled for three times. The date for the election was scheduled as early as December 20 last before it was deferred due to students’ protest and unavailability election officials.

University sources added today’s election saw more than 61 percent polling. There was no report of any untoward incident inside the campus during the poll.
