TSA condemns

IMPHAL | Jan 10

The Thadou Students' Association Chandel has vehemently condemned the brutal murder of a village chief and church leader on January 7 last.

S. Otkhomang Mate, 57 yrs, chief of N Gamnom and Tilpao Haokip, 51 yrs, church head deacon of the village were abducted at around 8.30 pm on January 6 by unidentified gunmen and their dead bodies were found on January 7.

Decrying the state government’s failure to ensure the safety of its citizens inspite of a huge security presence the TSA statement said, merely paying ex-gratia and a government job is not enough.

Any settlement devoid of bringing the culprits to justice is no justice to the victim and it would only encourage crime, it added.

Meanwhile, Rural Peoples Development Federation, Chandel has condemned the senseless killing of the chief and pastor. It appealed to all outfits not to continue such inhuman acts in future.
