59th CC Meet Football: KLASA defeat YPHU in tie-breaker

IMPHAL, December 8: Keinou Library and Sports Association, KLASA Keinou today ousted Young Physique’s Union, YPHU Khwai Lalambung Makhong from the ongoing 59th Sir Churachand Singh KCSI, CBE Memorial Football tournament with a 5-4 win during the tie-breaker.

The match played at the Mapal Kangjeibung extended into the tie-breaker after both teams were locked in a goalless draw at the end of the normal play time.

KLASA today advanced into the pre-quarter final.

The only exciting moment during the play was in the 40th minute when Y Henba of YPHU was given off-side after he had netted a reflected ball. The tournament is being organised by the All Manipur Football Association. Altogether 21 teams three from outside State are taking part in the tournament.

In the second half, the referee cautioned Y Sushilkumar of YPHU in the 69th minute for a foul against S Herojit.

In the tie-breaker, S Herojit, N Ramesh, A Kenejit, U Sarat and M maniton converted their spot kick for KLASA. The fourth and sixth spot kicks by N Dhananjoy and N Sushilkumar were saved by YPHU goalie A Romio.

While only the first four players of YPHU namely Y Kamando, W Arunkumar, M Rabindra and L Monish could find the back of the net. And KLASA goalie Tomba saved three spot kicks by Y Henba, S Chaoba Meitei and O Ajay.

NEROCA Football Club, Sangakpam will meet J Songtun Youth Club, Sadar Hills at 1:30 pm on Wednesday.
