MLMCHCCS clinch Sagolband 7A-side football title

IMPHAL, December 7: MLMCHCCS, Moirang Leirak lifted the 4th Sagolband Kendra 7-a-side Open Football tournament cup by defeating LYU, Old Lambulane by 6-5 in tie-breakers in the final at SMLVO Ground on Sunday.

The winner received a cash award of Rs 40,000 along with trophy and the runners up team received a cash award of Rs 25,000 with trophy.

The tournament was organised by the Sagolband Mantrimayum Leikai Voluntary Organisation, SMLVO, which was commenced from November 20. Altogether 12 teams in two groups were took part in the tournament.

In final match, both teams were locked at two goals at the end of normal time.

Ng Sona scored both goals for MLMCHCCS in 48th and 60+2 minute respectively.

Thongdailou and David Haokip scored two goals for LYU in 15th and 58th minute.

In the tie-breaker, Ng Sona, W Kanta, Salam Rajesh and RK Robindro converted their spot kicks, while only three players for LYU David Haokip, Santosh Prasad and Haogoulun Thangjom could find the back of the net.

The closing function was attended by minister Commerce and Industries, Govindas Konthoujam and parliamentary secretary cum Minister YAS and Tourism, Mairenbam Prithviraj Singh as chief guest and president respectively.
