Pony engaged in Polo Intl found dead

IMPHAL, November 27: In a shocking incident, a Pony named Car who was representing many countries in the ongoing 9th Manipur Polo International held at Mapal Kangjeibung was found dead around 3 am today.

The owner of the Pony has been identified as Akoijam Manaobi of Iroishemba of Nongchup Pana Polo Association.

Reports said that Car was kept in the Group-A stable built only for the ongoing Polo International on the eastern side of the Kangjeibung near Shahid Minar.

Car represented the England team in the match played with Thailand yesterday. He died after falling into a drain after twisting by the rope tiding his neck.

Car was regarded as the fasted horse among the ponies playing in the International Polo tournament.

Expressing shock on the demise of Car, Akoijam Manaobi lamented that Nongchup Pana Polo Association has been facing shortage of horses from a long time.

The demise of Car will create a great impact in the upcoming matches of Association of this season, he said.

He also sought assistance of a polo playing horse from the authority concerned to back up his association.

Secretary, Manipur Horse Riding and Polo Association Dr Chourajit assured that the matter would be discussed after completion of International Polo tournament.
